| The A&B Foundation supports charities on the U.S. mainland, providing thematic funding for maritime education and protection, and general community support in geographic locations which are of importance to A&B.
With the recent establishment of Matson Navigation Company headquarters in Oakland, California, A&B Foundation support has been directed to the Oakland Public Library Foundation; the Oakland Zoo; the Big Brothers/Big Sisters of the East Bay; the Oakland East Bay Symphony; and the Oakland Ballet Association. Major support also is provided to the San Francisco Maritime National Park Association and to the California Maritime Academy.
In Southern California, A&B Foundation grants support to the Cabrillo Marine Aquarium; the Santa Barbara Maritime Museum; and the Los Angeles Maritime Institute.

In Seattle, the interactive Odyssey Maritime Discovery Center is funded with an annual grant; visitors learn about human connections to the seas and waterways.
In Phoenix, Arizona, home to Matson’s customer service center, the Foundation supports the Tempe Pappas School for Children of Homeless Families, WasteNot, and the American Stroke Association.
And in Illinois, funding was provided for Western DuPage Special Recreation Association, an athletic program for children with special needs.
In all these Mainland communities, annual operating support is provided for the agencies represented by The United Way.
