Kama`aina Kids receives award from A& B Foundation

Kama`aina Kids is pleased to announce the receipt of an award in the amount of $5,000 from the Alexander & Baldwin Foundation.  This award will support renovations in Kihei and Kahului, including completion of the Pi`ilani Preschool playground in Kihei.  The school cares for 90 children, from infants to five year olds.

Both La Donna Gubitz, Kama`aina Kids’s regional Manager for Maui and Ray Sanborn, President of Kama`aina Kids will be on hand December 15th when a representative from the A&B Foundation will present the award.

“We are very excited about this award and what it will do in support of the Maui children that we serve at this location,” said Ray Sanborn.  The preschool is one of 94 multi-age sites operated by the company of which 10 are located on the island of Maui.   Kama`aina Kids serves over 1,500 children on Maui at six A+ locations, three preschools and a hotel program.  It employs over 100 staff.

“We are pleased to support Kama`aina Kids and to help ensure that Maui’s children have fun—and safe— playgrounds,” said Meredith Ching, president and chair of the A&B Foundation, “This is the sixth playground on Maui that the A&B Foundation has helped fund; we fully understand the importance of play in a child’s development and growth.  Kama`aina Kids provides a valuable service to Maui’s youth and their families by providing quality programs and a safe, nurturing environment in which kids can grow and prosper.  We are happy to be amongst its supporters.”
